Cardi B Scores Another Legal Win as Judge Dismisses Copyright Suit

The Texas case over her song ‘Enough (Miami)’ was tossed without prejudice, marking another courtroom victory for the rapper.

When it comes to court, don’t mess with Cardi B. The “Little Miss Drama” performer just scored another courtroom victory.

A Texas federal judge recently dismissed a $50 million copyright infringement suit filed against the rap superstar over her song “Enough (Miami),” according to court documents obtained by People. The suit, brought by producers Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, claimed Cardi “copied, misappropriated, and profited” off their own song elements from their track “Greasy Frybread.”

The plaintiffs alleged Cardi “unlawfully duplicated” the song and released it without their permission as “Enough (Miami)” in March 2024, which they said caused them “reputational harm within the music industry and caused them to be blacklisted.”

However, the judge dismissed the case without prejudice. Reportedly, the judge found the plaintiffs had not secured a copyright registration when they first filed the case, which undercut the suit’s standing. Even though the producers later secured a federal registration for “Greasy Frybread” in October 2025, the court still concluded it would be “futile” to let them keep amending the complaint.

So Cardi and her legal team were able to argue that “Greasy Frybread” was not copyright protected when the lawsuit was filed, and they also pushed back on the plaintiffs’ attempt to anchor the case in Texas law. The plaintiffs’ lawyer said they are evaluating whether to refile in another forum, so the legal drama may not be completely over yet.

"The court did not reach or decide the underlying issue of whether our clients’ musical work was unlawfully used," the plaintiffs' attorney Robert R. Flores told People in a statement. "Our clients have since secured a federal copyright registration, and we are evaluating next steps, including refiling the case in an appropriate forum. The claims remain very much alive, and we intend to pursue them. Out of respect for the ongoing litigation process, we won’t be commenting further at this time."

Still, the ruling marks another win for Cardi, who was already found not liable in a separate civil assault case last year. And while the lawsuit may have threatened to sidetrack her, she remains on the road with her Little Miss Drama Tour, which is set to continue through April 18.
