Veteran comedian and actor Eddie Murphy has been making audience members laugh for over four decades. Henson on Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, check out five of Eddie Murphy’s funniest onscreen moments.

  • Sherk

In one of his most memorable animated roles to date, Murphy's turn as Donkey in the classic family film Sherk. Donkey is Shrek’s faithful sidekick, who loves boulders and supports the ogre even though Sherk barely tolerates him.

  • Eddie Murphy Raw

Though the jokes in this iconic standup special haven’t aged as well, the special still proved the actor’s dominance in the entertainment industry at the time. The standup special was even given a theatrical release. Viewers pleasantly couldn’t avoid Murphy.

  • The Nutty Professor

This 1996 movie found Murphy playing seven-character including the lead role of Sherman Klump, a scientist whose experiment creates his evil alter ego, and Buddy Love.

  • Trading Places

In his second role on film at the time,  Murphy is Billy Ray Valentine, a con man who finds himself in the middle of a social experiment conducted by two shady, wealthy brothers. He starred alongside fellow  Saturday Night Live alumni Dan Akroyd.

  • Coming to America

It’s hard to find another comedic  Murphy performance that tops the late 80s classic Coming to America. Along with actor Arsenio Hall,  Murphy took on several hilarious characters in the movie about an African prince who flies to Queens, New York, to find his princess.
