Drake and Nardwuar Have an Entertaining Hour-Long Interview

A lot of gems were revealed.

Drake doesn’t do that many interviews because he doesn’t like the media. So, knowing that, every rare time he does do one, get your notepad out and be prepared to learn something.

Recently participating in an hour-long back-and-forth with the legendary Nardwuar, the Toronto native discussed everything from the influences on his latest album Views to retracing his history in Memphis and everything in between.

Along with producer Noah "40" Shebib, Drizzy was prompted to talk about a lot of the dancehall influence on his newest project. Nardwuar brought out some heavy hitters with albums by Vybz Kartel and Timmy Thomas. Perhaps even more entertaining was the Vancouver journalist’s attempts at digging out some information about the rapper/producer combo's families as he brought out records from Donald Shebib and others.

Interestingly, Drake was prompted to talk about how both of his careers, formerly acting on Degressi and hip hop, meshed up with each other. Nardwuar brought up how Drake was able to rap on the show and what it was about. “It was the first time I ever got to showcase rap on television,” Drake remembered. “I think they gave me an opportunity after that to write a real song myself – I don’t think I wrote those bars, believe it or not. I think that was the first time rap showed its face on Degrassi. Big moment there.”

Also during the interview, Drake talked about hooking up with fans, athletes turned rappers and much more. The is his second and presumably final interview in promotion of Views. He recently sat down with Zane Lowe and Beats 1 to talk about the record and his past as well.
