Moments to Revisit From Coachella Weekend One
Black musicians were abundant in Indio Valley during the first weekend of Coachella 2025.
From Friday, April 11 to Sunday, April 13, the stars hit the music festival for its 21st iteration, including co-headliner Travis Scott, who performed on Saturday night. On the Houston hitmaker’s setlist were classics like “Skyfall” and newer cuts like “FE!N.” Joining Travis were two down South marching bands; The Marching 100 from Florida A&M University and the Sonic Boom of the South from Mississippi’s Jackson State University.
Also representing the south was Megan Thee Stallion, who brought a cast of guests including Victoria Monét, Ciara, and Queen Latifah.
Although Mustard didn’t co-headline this year’s Coachella, the DJ and producer brought out some hip-hop and R&B all-stars, like Ella Mai, Big Sean, Roddy Ricch, Tyga and 2 Chainz.
Performing at Coachella for the second time, GloRilla tributed Beyoncé during her nighttime set, and ran through her hits like “Hollon.”
Making a splash for her Coachella debut was Tyla, who performed her 2023 megahit “Water” and other notables from her eponymous album.
Missy Elliott showed contemporary acts how it's done on Friday night. The four-time Grammy winner put a modern twist on iconic songs like “Get Ur Freak On” and “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).”
Other acts who shut down Coachella stages were T-Pain, Ravyn Lenae, D4vd and SAINt JHN.
Coachella continues for its second and final weekend this year from April 18 until April 20.
