Karl-Anthony Towns Reveals the Sweet Meaning Behind Jordyn Woods’ Ring

Towns said he wanted a ring that ‘shows that bond’ they’ve built and joked that his future mother-in-law’s approval mattered most.

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns opened up about proposing to longtime partner Jordyn Woods, revealing a personal detail behind the engagement ring he chose.

Towns and Woods announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on Dec. 25. Towns appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Jan. 6 and told Meyers that he proposed in a surprise moment after five-and-a-half years together.

Towns described what he wanted the ring to represent. He said he “wanted her to have a ring that shows that bond and relationship that we've built,” and added, “I want everyone to know she's mine.” Towns also said the proposal was a surprise and confirmed that Woods loved the ring. He joked that his future mother-in-law’s approval was “the most important thing.”

Towns shared that he values their commitment to one another, especially through the ebbs and flows of being in a relationship. "I think the most important thing... we always chose each other," Towns said of Woods. "You know, through the bad and the good, we always found ourselves choosing each other. I think that's what makes for a strong bond, a strong relationship."

The pair went public about their relationship in 2020 and confirmed their engagement with an Instagram carousel that included images of Towns getting down on one knee at Overstory, a rooftop bar in New York City. Woods wore a white fuzzy coat and dress in the proposal photos, and that she later displayed the ring at Madison Square Garden when Towns played.
