Fox News Co-Host Says Liberals Should Treat 'Nazi' Like the N-Word

Greg Gutfeld faced swift backlash after equating Democratic rhetoric to racial slurs.

During a Tuesday episode of “The Five,” Fox News guest co-host Greg Gutfeld sparked intense backlash after suggesting conservatives should "learn from the Blacks" by reclaiming the term "Nazi" to strip it of its power, drawing a direct comparison to how some in the Black community have repurposed the N-word. The segment began with a discussion of a recent California ICE raid before devolving into inflammatory rhetoric that critics condemned as the dangerous normalization of Nazism.

The panel initially focused on an immigration raid at a California cannabis farm where protesters clashed with ICE agents, resulting in the death of 57-year-old farmer Jaime Alanís. Co-host Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery joked about sending demonstrators to "Alligator Alcatraz," Florida's migrant detention center, while Gutfeld used the incident to dismiss progressive criticism of deportation policies. He then pivoted dramatically, arguing that being called Nazis no longer bothers conservatives.

Opinion: Why Are Non-Black Artists Still Saying the N-Word Like It’s a Brand New Day?

“This is why the criticism doesn’t matter to us when you call us Nazis. Nazi this and Nazi that. You know, I’m beginning to think they don’t like us,” Gutfeld said. “You know what? I’ve said this before. We need to learn from the Blacks.”

The segment quickly drew ire across the political spectrum. Mehdi Hasan, journalist and Zeteo news founder, said online that such remarks would typically end careers at legitimate news organizations.

DL Hughley reposted the video on his Instagram account, drawing comments of admonishment underneath. One commenter said, "This whole thing is abhorrent, but the way he said "The BLACKS"...somehow the emphasis on the 'BL' was doubly offensive. Or is it just me?”

Other social media onlookers pointed out the normalization of Nazism.”
