.idk. Announces Son de L’Amour, A Cultural Juneteenth Takeover
DMV rapper .idk. is turning Juneteenth into a full cultural moment with Son de L’amour (meaning “sound of love” in French) — a two-day experience built around music, film, conversation, fashion, and community.
Presented in partnership with the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum, the French Embassy in the United States, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the June 19-20 activation will connect Washington, D.C. and Paris through a lineup designed to move between local roots and global reach.
The project also kicks off at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum with performances from .idk., the Chuck Brown Band, Black Alley, and more guests to be announced. The next day, the focus shifts to the French Embassy for a screening of “Pardon Me,” .idk.’s documentary on his creative process and personal journey, followed by a conversation titled “Southeast to Paris” with .idk. and additional special guests to be announced.
The weekend closes with the Son de L’amour Georgetown Block Party, a large-scale community event expected to draw 10,000-plus attendees. Headlined by .idk. and TOB & Friends, it will feature live performances, DJs, vendors, and appearances from YungManny, Q Da Fool, Shabazz, Kashdami, DJ Money, YTK, Hue, Lil Sobe & Ma Dukes, DPM’s Xang, Pearl, Edward!, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, and more.
.idk. says the event is about “giving back to the city that shaped me.” It also marks the public debut of Indigo, a new artist-first platform built to help creators deepen their connection with fans through community-driven experiences.
