Gunna Shares Beef-Laden Bars For Freddie Gibbs

The two rappers spent Wednesday exchanging words on Twitter.

It’s no secret that Freddie Gibbs never shies away from a confrontation. But when the Bandana rapper began his Wednesday, Jan. 5, it was not sure if he expected to reignite his war of words with Atlanta rapper Gunna.

The two spent a portion of the day going back-and-forth, as the latter had tweeted, “When my album drop[s], Freddie Gibbs will [have] the biggest moment of his career.”

Gibbs responded by quote-tweeting the Young Thug-affiliated rapper and sharing a kiss emoji, writing, “Definitely about to be my biggest year in rap.”

No stranger to piling on those who approach Gangsta Gibbs with smoke, the Indiana-born MC twisted the knife, writing, “U can say U sold more records got more money but I ain’t never been on crime stoppers. Fin.” In 2021, Gibbs had previously implied that Gunna was a snitch for appearing on Crime Stoppers TV, an accusation the Slime Language 2 author denied as HotNewHipHop pointed out.

Almost shortly afterward, DJ Akademiks chimed in to share a preview of a Gunna song, which more than likely will appear on Drip Season 4, and raps, “I can’t f**k with Freddie Gibbs.”

Underwhelmed or unimpressed, Gibbs responded, tweeting, “Damn that was it? I thought fam was gon’ gimme some bars. Let’s go #SSS,” referring to his own upcoming album. Then continued by adding, “I love Gunna music[.] I think he[’s] one of the best [at] making music[,] so to be recognized by one of the best is a blessing. Now, don’t take this get back s**t personal.”

Gibbs then closed with a clip of Gunna being interviewed, in an apparent move to tie his Crime Stoppers connection together in real-time. “I’m just gon’ leave this right here[.] Y’all have a good evening.”

Gunna wrote in response, “It’s CNN and my cuzin still doin’ life for no statement ever been turn in ! #FREEDEVO,” and added, “This is not crime stoppers dummy.”

Prior to the brouhaha, Gunna shared the tracklist for Drip Season 4, which releases this Friday, Jan. 7, and features Drake, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Future, and more.
