Jaguars’ Dauwane Smoot and Wife Deliver Their Baby at Home After A Scary Moment

The couple were on their way to the hospital, but Aumari Smoot collapsed, and the Jacksonville defensive end helped deliver their daughter.

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dawuane Smoot has moves on the field, and those quick instincts came in handy for the unexpected home birth of his second child with wife, Aumari.

Smoot, a fifth-year defensive end, was fresh back from across the pond where the Jaguars played the Miami Dolphins at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.  He arrived stateside and immediately had to take Aumari to the hospital.

According to the team, it was 4 a.m. Tuesday when they were leaving for the hospital, but they never made it. Aumari fell to her knees and Dawuane caught her. In an emergency, they ended up delivering their new daughter on the living room floor.

They called 9-1-1 and paramedics instructed Smoot what to do to tie the umbilical cord. Reports are that mom and newest baby, Ahlani Moon Smoot, are in good health.

Smoot, however, gave his wife all the praise and thanks.
