Here's What Happens When You Say Quentin Tarantino's Name in Front of Spike Lee

Things get real tense, real fast.

Spike Lee has an opinion on just about everything, but there are some topics that are just off limits for the director. We found out the hard way where that line is when we mentioned Quentin Tarantino's involvement in the Black Lives Matter movement to the Chi-Raq filmmaker.

“I’m not answering anything about Quentin Tarantino," he said. Message received, Mr. Lee. Ironically, Tarantino recently said he would "never" work with Lee again and "I have two more films to direct and I will not spend any of them working with that son of a b***h. He [Spike] would be very happy the day I accept to work with him. But it will not happen."

The director was happy to speak out about raising awareness on violence within the African-American community, and not just that from police, saying, “Doesn’t matter the color of the hand that pulls the trigger.” He also defended his choice of satire for his new film, which centers on gang violence in Englewood, Chicago. “Chi-Raq is not the first film in the history of American cinema that used satire to deal with a very serious subject matter.”

Watch our informative — and sometimes tense! — interview with Spike Lee above. Chi-Raq hits theaters on December 4.
