Decomposed Body Found in Impounded Tesla Registered to Singer D4vd, LAPD Investigating
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after a body was discovered inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to 20-year-old music star D4vd, multiple outlets report.
According to ABC7 Eyewitness News, police were called to a tow yard on North Mansfield Avenue in Hollywood just after noon Monday when workers reported a strong odor coming from an impounded vehicle. The 2023 Tesla, which had reportedly been at the lot for several days after being towed from the Hollywood Hills, contained human remains wrapped in a bag.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or any details on how the body ended up inside the car. Detectives say the case is being treated as a death investigation.
The Tesla is registered to David Anthony Burke, better known as D4vd (pronounced “David”), a genre-blurring singer-songwriter who skyrocketed to fame with viral hits like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” both of which have each amassed over a billion streams.
The Houston-born artist, who started his career making music in his sister’s closet, has since become one of music’s most talked-about rising stars, earning millions of followers and critical acclaim for his moody, genre-bending sound. He released his debut album earlier this year and is currently in the middle of his Withered World Tour, which kicked off last month and includes an upcoming Los Angeles stop on September 20.
While LAPD has not indicated any connection between D4vd and the victim, the timing suggests the remains are not those of the singer himself, as D4vd has been actively touring and recently posted to social media. His representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
