Every year, thousands of music lovers descend on the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. In this, the 23rd installment, 2024 is poised to be one of the best incarnations of the festival which attracts concert-goers from all over the world. In the first weekend of the festival, there were incredible performances and surprise guests that electrified the crowd and set social media ablaze.

To bring you up to speed, here are the Top Five Performances From The First Weekend of Coachella:

Tyler, the Creator Brings out Childish Gambino, A$AP Rocky, Kali Uchis, and Charlie Wilson For An Electric Performance

Tyler, the Creator was in his glory on the Coachella stage. Marking his fourth time performing at the festival, he performed cuts from Call Me If You Get Lost, Wolf, on Saturday (April 13) and did some songs from his days as a member of Odd Future. Taking his set to another level, he brought out Childish Gambino (“Running Out of Time”), A$AP Rocky (“Potato Salad” and “Who Dat Boy”), and Kali Uchis (“See You Again”). To cap it all off, Tyler welcomed the legendary Charlie Wilson to the stage for a performance of “Earfquake”. Tyler accompanied Wilson on the piano as he sang his classic “Outstanding.”

Doja Cat Brings The House Down

When it comes to great performers, you can expect the unexpected from Doja Cat. Focusing more on her rap skills, Doja omitted her big pop hits such as “Kiss Me” and “Say So.”  Featuring a puppet, dinosaur skeleton and abundant mud dancing, Doja Cat gave several songs live debuts, including her opener “Acknowledge Me” and three collaborations: “N.H.I.E.” with 21 Savage, “Masc” with Teezo Touchdown, and “Urrrge” with A$AP Rocky. On the stage, Doja Cat brings it every time.

Chlöe Bailey Slays The Stage In Her Coachella Debut

Chlöe Bailey knows how to put on a show. She left the audience mesmerized--she performed her songs, “Have Mercy,” “Treat Me,” “FYS,” "Boy Bye," and many more. Among the capacity crowd of supporters was her biggest fan and sister Halle Bailey. “Words can’t describe how proud I am,” Halle shared.

Ice Spice Performs An Unreleased Track During Her Coachella Set

Ice Spice lit up the Sahara stage. She performed  “Gangsta Boo,” “Barbie World,” “Boy’s a Liar Pt.2 ,'' “Deli,” and an unreleased song from her forthcoming Y2K album.” Spice even gave a shout out to her bestie Taylor Swift whom she called “Taylor motherf—ing Swift” who was in attendance with Travis Kelce. She then performed her latest single “Think you the Sh– (Fart).”

Will Smith Thrills The Audience On Stage With J. Blavin

In what might be the biggest surprise of the weekend, J. Blavin stunned the audience introducing Will Smith, who was dressed in Men In Black gear for a performance of the song “Men In Black.” Catching the crowd completely off guard, Smith showed up in the middle of Blavin’s UFO-themed set appearing from the bottom of the stage and yelled to the crowd, “Coachella!” as the “Men In Black” track began. Without question, the “Fresh Prince” proved that he hasn’t lost a step as a live performer.
