Man Arrested In Alleged Gruesome Slaying Of His Pregnant Sister Days After Her Baby Shower

N-Kya Rebecca Logan reportedly planned to name her unborn son Noah.

A California man was arrested for the alleged murder of his pregnant sister who was fatally stabbed and set on fire days after a baby shower for her unborn son, Noah.

Fresno station KFSN reported that the burned remains of N-Kya Rebecca Logan, 26, were found Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 13) near an apartment complex. Family members said she was eight months pregnant.

Fresno Police chief Paco Balderrama announced the arrest of her brother, Aaron Jamal Dudley, 41, on Wednesday and charged him with two counts of murder.

A motorist called 911 around 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 13 after seeing Logan’s body burning in an alley, The Los Angeles Times reported. Maintenance workers at a nearby apartment complex extinguished the fire before firefighters and paramedics arrived and pronounced Logan dead.

The police said officers arrested Dudley based on a witness’ account of seeing a suspicious person pushing a city garbage bin near the complex and then setting the contents ablaze. Surveillance video appeared to confirm that account. Cameras at the apartment complex captured images of Dudley pushing a city garbage bin in the area.

Balderrama said Dudley, who lived with Logan and his mother, fled the house when cops tried to arrest him.

“He ran from police, which is something very typical of a guilty person,” the chief said, according to The Times.

Officers went to the same house in July 2021 to respond to a call about Dudley having a possible psychotic incident, Balderrama stated. At that time, he was placed involuntarily in 72-hour psychiatric detention out of fear that he could harm himself or someone else.

Investigators said they believe Dudley stabbed his sister multiple times with a sharp object, possibly a knife, inside their home before setting her body on fire. Authorities believe that Logan and her unborn son died of stab wounds.

Dudley faces the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole, Fresno District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp said at the press conference.

“A third-party killing of a fetus with [premeditation] is murder as long as it can be shown that the fetus had progressed beyond the embryonic stage … seven to eight weeks,” Smittcamp added.
