JT Says She Has No Regrets About Leaving City Girls

The rapper opens up about album backlash, her Billboard-charting mixtape, and what’s next for her evolution beyond the club scene.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, the rapper shares that it wasn’t what she “wanted” but doesn’t “regret” it.

“It’s not what I wanted, but it was what was destined to happen,” JT tells the outlet.

“But I don’t feel regretful about it. I feel happy, in control, and like I’m where I’m supposed to be.”

Her last album with Caresha was entitled “RAW” and was released back in 2023. The duo received backlash from fans about the lack of promotion for the album.

During an interview with “The Breakfast Club,” the Florida native opened up about how she “cares” about the fans feelings regarding the rollout and its sales.

“I think that of course like nobody want to see that online about they self, and I feel like at the same time you get in. I feel like, collectively, we didn’t do what we had to do to promote the album.”

The 32-year-old has gone on to achieve solo success, releasing her solo mixtape entitled “City Cinderella” last summer which debuted at 27 on the U.S. Billboard 200, out charting any City Girls release, as reported by That Grape Juice.

“What I could say is you get in what you put out,” she continued.

“If you don’t go hard with promoting your sh*t and putting it in people’s face, of course, it’s going to miss people. I feel like it missed a lot of people and by the time people discovered it, it was discovered as a joke. A lot of people found out through our record sales… that was probably the most viral thing.”

She also discusses with the outlet her evolution and what she has in store for fans as she continues to slow burn with her newfound success.

“I’m really ready to push myself to take them into another world,” she said. “We’ve been at the club together—let’s go somewhere else.”
