Looks like Samuel L. Jackson's Guinness record is secure for the foreseeable future.
The highest-grossing actor of all time has scored the biggest hit of his career with The Avengers, which grossed a stunning $103.2 million at the box office this weekend, easily securing first place. That makes another record for the ultimate superhero film: it's the first movie in history to make more than $100 million in its second week of release.
What's good news for Avengers is bad news for Johnny Depp and his Dark Shadows, which came in a distant second with $28.8 million. Tim Burton's latest was a disappointment for studio execs, who expected it to clear the No. 1 spot.
But the most surprising news of the weekend comes from Think Like a Man, which beat Hunger Games for third place and grossed $6.3 million. That brings the four week total $81.9 million, shocking insiders who never expected the ensemble comedy, based on Steve Harvey's best-seller, to have such staying power.
