Azealia Banks has apparently put her foot in her mouth once again. The outspoken rapper almost had a collaboration with legend Lil' Kim – almost, being the keyword here. But the femcee apparently screwed up her chances when Banks sent the track over with Kim’s verse already written out. Of course, Lil' Kim took the stunt as shade and scrapped the song altogether. Now Azealia Banks has issued an official apology on Instagram, explaining her true intentions.

The “Chi Chi” rapper began her lengthy post by complimenting Kim on her legacy of mixing hip-hop with fashion. “I’ve wanted to make music with you for so many years Kim. I have such a vision about Kim x Europa x Fashion,” she wrote on Instagram. “You were the first female rapper to merge fashion and hip-hop and you have sooooooo many fashion fans who know you are the mother of the whole female rapper in fashion thing.”

She then leapt into the apology, explaining why she chose to send her a song with the verses already written. According to Azealia, she had no intentions of writing Lil Kim’s verse for her; it was just a blueprint. “Apologies if when I sent that verse you thought I was trying to write for you — I wasn’t,” she exclaimed. “I only sent the reference because I just wanted to map the song out and it was literally me just doing what I thought you would sound like in that section. I only put it in so there wouldn’t be a blank space and you could understand the structure of the song when I sent it…”

While it seems as though Kim has refused to return Banks’ calls or messages, Banks still has hope that one day they can smooth things over. “I hope one day we can link in person and straighten things out because I was sooo confused and heartbroken when our collab fell thru,” she concluded. “If nothing else, just know that I never ever meant to throw shade with van vogue… I was just young and excited…”

This is the second apology Azealia Banks has made in the last two months. The rapper previously apologized to Nicki Minaj for persistently dragging her on social media. Hopefully this will be another lesson to Azealia about thinking before acting.
