Joey Bada$ Believes the Government Is Trying to Start a Civil War
The deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile have sparked outrage all over the nation, particularly in the hip-hop community. When it comes to Joey Bada$, he’s taking the news a little differently.
While most are either angry at the officers who shot the two men or the two victims of the shootings (for whatever reason), the Brooklyn native aimed his displeasure at the U.S. Government.
Taking to Instagram, Joey presented the conspiracy theory that the government is trying to incite a civil war and is “begging” for it to happen “so they can kill us off faster using uprising and rebellion as the excuse.”
“What the government is doing amongst our people is downright disturbing but not surprising,” he captioned the post, which features a drawn outline of Alton Sterling next to the scattered CDs he was reportedly selling outside of a convenience store. “With all of the conflict and propaganda, I believe they are simply trying to start a civil war within the USA amongst black & white. They are simply pushing us to our limit so that we can all get together and rebel so that it makes it easier for them to kill us (black people mostly and anyone who acts out against them). Alton Sterling and those alike are happening everyday in this country.”
Bada$ also asked his community to be more aware of how they interact with each other and to police themselves better than law enforcement currently does.
“The cancerous foods, the chemical warfare, and the economic suffering is not working fast enough for them," he continued. "They are many steps ahead of us in manifesting the future that they want for this country. We have to work together in not only battling them on a physical plane but to outsmart them on an intellectual mental level. As black and low income people, I think our gangs need to do a better job at protecting our communities and not assisting in destroying them. Who do we call when the police break the law?? We are so quick to pick up a gun and kill one another but not quick enough to pick it up and protect one another for our human rights.”
Alton Sterling was shot multiple times in his chest after police pinned him down and discovered he had a firearm in the back pocket of his pants. Philando Castile was shot and eventually died after police believed that the identification he was reaching for inside of his car (which they required he brandish) was a firearm. Both cases have raised questions as to whether the men were actually a threat to harm the officers who engaged them.
