Drake Debuts Black and White ‘Nokia’ Music Video
Drake had fun in his black-and-white IMAX-shot music video for “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” track “Nokia.”
The song is among Drizzy’s solo efforts on his new joint album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, and on Monday, March 31, a Theo Skudra-directed “Nokia” visual dropped. At the video’s beginning, Drake leans against a replica OVO Sound sculpture before dancing down a space with bright LED screens. Other scenes show the Canadian artist dancing with women in Carnival garb before the ladies change into streetwear fits. Also making a cameo is fellow Canadian native and Oklahoma City Thunder point guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
“Nokia” is among the biggest songs on “$$$4U,” charting at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Previously, the song charted at No. 1, dethroning “Not Like Us” by his rival, Kendrick Lamar. It’s worth mentioning that Universal Music Group filed a motion to dismiss Drake’s defamation lawsuit against them earlier this month over “Not Like Us.” According to the label, Drake “lost a rap battle that he provoked and in which he willingly participated.”
But the rapper appears to be moving on with new material, even prepping an upcoming solo album. During Drake’s Anita Max Win Tour in February, the five-time Grammy winner told the crowd that his intention for his first LP with Party was to provide some “turned-up songs” along with tracks meant for “personal feelings.”
