Happy Birthday Michael B. Jordan! Today, Thursday, Feb. 9, the multi-talented actor, producer, and philanthropist is celebrating his 36th birthday and we cannot help but celebrate his impressive accomplishments and achievements.
Raised in Newark, NJ, Jordan rose to prominence with his breakthrough role as Wallace in the critically acclaimed HBO series, The Wire. Since then, he has established himself as one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, delivering powerful performances in films such as Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther.
He has received numerous accolades for his work, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Emmy nomination for his role in the HBO series, Fahrenheit 451. As a testament to his talent and versatility, Jordan has also made his mark as a producer, with his production company, Outlier Society, focusing on stories that challenge the status quo and bring diversity to Hollywood.

Fruitvale Station
This 2013 film put Jordan on the map as his lead breakout role. Based on the true story surrounding the killing of Oscar Grant by the BART police on New Year's Day in 2009 in Oakland, California. He won the “Breakthrough Actor” award at the 2013 Gotham Awards.

Just Mercy
Taking on another role that tells the true story of a Black man, Jordan plays real-life attorney Bryan Stevenson, a story based on Stevenson's memoir, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. The film follows Jordan’s Stevenson who is on a journey to prove the innocence of a wrongfully convicted Black man (played by Jamie Foxx) who has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit.

Creed
In 2015, Creed revived the critically-acclaimed Rocky franchise— which follows MBJ's Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky's old rival Apollo. The film has turned into a franchise itself with Creed II premiering in 2018 and Creed III premiering on Mar 3. 2023.

Black Panther
Playing the villain as Erik Killmonger opposite the late Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Jordan switches it up from his usual roles. His portrayal in the franchise's first film landed him several awards and nominations in the “Best Supporting Actor” category.
