Did Latto Just Confirm Her First Baby’s Birth?

The rapper shared an emotional Instagram video chronicling her pregnancy, family moments, and the arrival of her first child with 21 Savage.

Latto is officially “Big Mama!”

The Atlanta rapper, born Alyssa Michelle Stephens, appeared to confirm on May 18 that she welcomed her first child with a heartfelt Instagram video that stitched together moments from her pregnancy, studio time, and life with family and friends. People reported that the baby’s name and gender have not been shared, but the post made it clear that Latto has stepped into a major new chapter.

The sweet video Latto shared ended with her at 37 weeks, saying it would be one of her final videos before her baby comes. The video then cuts to promotional clips for “Big Mama,” with audio of people telling Latto to push…seemingly in delivery.

Latto has been building this era out in public for months. In the video, she said she wanted to name the new album “Big Mama,” and then she found out about her pregnancy and “everything fell into place.”

In March, she announced the news with the cover for her forthcoming album “Big Mama” and the music video for “Business & Personal,” both of which featured her baby bump. The cover showed her cuddling a baby cheetah, while the video included what appeared to be 21 Savage’s hand on her bump, giving fans more than enough clues that this rollout was tied to real life.

In the new video, Latto gave fans an even closer look at what the last nine months looked like, from recording booth moments to trips to places like Antigua and Tokyo. She also included clips of loved ones reacting to the pregnancy, including Usher and Angel Reese, who tried to guess the baby’s gender. At one point, a friend tells her, “She literally made a whole album in her stomach for you — your mother is the hardest working woman,” which feels about right for a rapper who has been moving with purpose even while pregnant.

Latto added that she feared the pregnancy might slow her down, but instead, it pushed her forward. “It’s so crazy because I thought this was going to hinder me — making this album sober, being tired and just exhausted, as my body went through all these changes,” she said.

And if her final words in the video are any indication, Latto is not planning to disappear any time soon, but her baby will indeed have her attention. “I’m so ready to meet my baby. I’m never going to leave when my baby gets here, like I need a million dollars to show, because I don’t want to leave the house,” she said. Big Mama, for real!
