King Harris Allegedly Caught with a THC Vape Pen in a Pikachu Onesie
King Harris was arrested early Sunday morning in Gwinnett County, Georgia, while wearing a full Pikachu onesie. The charges he's facing are significantly less adorable.
According to Complex, Gwinnett County Police clocked Harris traveling 60 mph in a 45 mph zone around 1 a.m. When officers approached the vehicle, they reported seeing a firearm inside and ordered Harris, 21, out of the car. He allegedly refused. Officers removed him and conducted a search, during which they recovered a vape pen containing 10 milligrams of THC.
Harris, the son of rappers T.I. and Tiny Harris, was booked on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor count of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, and two traffic citations for speeding and a seatbelt violation. He was released after posting bond.
Harris documented his night in real time on Instagram Stories, sharing a selfie in the Pikachu suit from the scene and cracking jokes. "Welp guess you can say they caught da Pikachu wit a master ball," he wrote, referencing the Pokemon franchise. In a follow-up post after his release, he wrote: "Mannn Pikachu is free. F**K TEAM ROCKET."
The cavalier response drew criticism online from followers who noted Harris is facing a felony charge in a state that takes drug possession seriously. Georgia law classifies possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a felony regardless of amount.
No plea has been entered. Harris has not publicly addressed the charges beyond his Instagram posts, and neither T.I. nor Tiny had issued statements as of publication. Harris has had prior legal run-ins, and the felony charge carries significant consequences if prosecuted to the fullest extent of Georgia law.
All charges are accusations. Harris is presumed innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
