The city of Fort Pierce, Fla., has agreed to pay a whopping $400,000 to three African-American code enforcement officers who claimed they were discriminated against three years ago.

 Officials said they agreed on the settlement "in the interests of the residents of the city.

 In 2006 officers Fritz Burlinson, Geneva Hasranah and Ricky Duncan complained that they received negative marks on employment evaluations while White employees hired about the same time received positive remarks despite all passing the same exam. The officers also said they were demoted after they complained.
