Kelly Rowland and Method Man in a Rom-Com? Yes Please!

Rowland plays a TV producer chasing history while Method Man’s character returns as a changed ex — the film mixes ambition, faith, and everything we love about Black rom-coms.

Y’all they put Kelly Rowland and Method Man in a rom-com together!

Prime Video’s new romantic comedy “Relationship Goals” starring Rowland and Cliff “Method Man” Smith, is a workplace rom-com with a faith-forward twist. The film, directed by Linda Mendoza (“Grown-ish,” “Harlem,” “Black-ish”) and produced by DeVon Franklin, is inspired by Pastor Michael Todd’s New York Times bestseller and will stream on Prime Video Feb. 4, 2026.

Rowland plays Leah Caldwell, a brilliant TV producer poised to become the first woman to run New York’s top morning show. Method Man plays Jarrett Roy, Leah’s ex who returns to compete for the same job after claiming a self-help book changed his life. The screenplay is by Laura Lekkos, Michael Elliot, and Cory Tynan. The supporting cast includes Robin Thede, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, and Matt Walsh. Rowland is even listed as one of the executive producers alongside Bart Lipton and Michael Todd

Both leads bring long, genre-crossing resumes to the project. Rowland — who rose to fame with Destiny’s Child and scored international pop hits as a solo artist — has steadily worked in film and television since the early 2000s, with credits that include “Freddy vs. Jason,” “Mea Culpa,” “Think Like a Man,” and recent TV roles that expanded her screen profile. Her pop-to-screen trajectory gives “Relationship Goals” a cross-platform star power that works. Who doesn’t want to see Kelly Rowland on their screen?!

Method Man is also an on-screen vet. The lifelong heartthrob brings a hip-hop pedigree and established acting résumé: a core Wu-Tang Clan member who parlayed rap stardom into film and TV roles such as “How High,” “Power,” and a range of dramatic and comedic turns across features and series. His presence signals the film’s blend of music-industry credibility and onscreen grit.

“Relationship Goals” arrives amid renewed attention on Black romantic comedies — a lineage that runs from 1990s and 2000s classics like “Love Jones,” “The Best Man,” and “Brown Sugar” to a streaming-era resurgence in stories centered on Black love and professional life. Critics and industry observers say the genre has evolved (and moved to streaming) while still carrying a legacy of representation that filmmakers and audiences see as culturally important.
