This Video Of CNN's Sara Sidner Holding On For Dear Life While Covering Hurricane Irma Had People Nervous AF

"What is the point of having her out there? It's dangerous and unnecessary."

After making headlines for getting complimented by Don Lemon, CNN reporter Sara Sidner has once again become a topic of discussion, this time for her fearless reporting in the middle of Hurricane Irma.

On Monday, Sider reported live from Daytona Beach, and the ferocious winds from the storm did everything but pick her up and carry her away.

  • Sidner delivered her report while holding on to a wall

“The winds are incredibly strong,” Sidner shouted into the mic. “They are incredibly ferocious. The strongest winds that we have seen since we have been here on the beach.”

The entire time Sidner spoke, she gripped on to a concrete barrier for support.

“I’m having a hard time even talking to you because the wind is pushing on my face so hard,” she explained. “I’m holding on to a very strong concrete wall and we are standing on the Hilton Hotel as the gusts just blast away at Daytona Beach.”

“It is an incredible amount of wind for a human being to stand up in,” Sidner added. “I’m a big strong lady, and it’s definitely hard to stand straight up because of the wind shear.”

  • The image of Sidner holding on to the wall made many nervous for her safety

  • Some trusted the reporter was a seasoned professional and found humor in the report

  • However, some felt reporters are used too frequently in dangerous situations to sensationalize weather
