Zahara Jolie Gave a Sweet Shoutout to Angelina Jolie at a Spelman Sorority Event
Zahara Jolie is giving very much Spelman woman!
Over the weekend, her mother, Angelina Jolie, and “Real Housewives of Potomac” star Gizelle Bryant attended a mother-daughter brunch at Spelman College hosted by the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where their daughters Zahara Jolie, 21, and Angel Bryant, 19, were both in attendance as members of the sorority. Gizelle shared a photo to her stories from the event alongside the Jolies and another mother/daughter soror pair and called it “Mother Daughter Magic.”
The moment that really had people talking was Zahara’s speech. The Spelman senior, who is majoring in psychology and minoring in educational studies, spoke about the “unique” and “kindred” bond she shares with her mother and reflected on the love and values Jolie has poured into her life. She said the relationship can be hard to put into words, but made it clear that Jolie’s example shaped the woman she is becoming.
Zahara also spoke about being adopted at six months old and growing up with a mother who centered kindness, service, and growth. She praised Jolie as “the most selfless, loving, and understanding woman” she gets to call her mom and shared that, even with public life always nearby, her mother never stopped showing interest in her school life, sorority experience, and leadership journey.
The speech got even more personal when Zahara reflected on how her mother’s humanitarian work rubbed off on her, and how she has embraced leadership in college as vice president of the Mu Pi Chapter at Spelman. She closed with, “I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.”
