Black Bodies Being Shamed Is Nothing New And That Needs To Change

There is a long history of body shaming across all cultures and, as we know, Black people have been subject to a particular nature of scrutiny due to a complex past. Recently, Demetria Obilor was targeted by an internet troll who couldn't stand to see the traffic reporter shine. Unfortunately, body shaming has become more common with the proliferation of the web.

    After a mother has recently given birth to a child, you'd think that the first thing someone would want to know is how things are going. But of course, in true hater fashion, people had plenty to say about Lauren's post-partum physique. With a touch of class, she responded with this:

    Grazia UK magazine placed the lovely and talented Lupita on the cover of their November 2017 issue, but allowed her image to be altered to fit more Eurocentric beauty standards. Lupita voiced her stance and the publication has since issued an apology.

    Despite having a track literally  titled "Don't Touch My Hair," The Evening Standard, a publication of London, did the exact opposite and edited Solange's hair on the cover. They've since apologized for the editorial blunder.
