Angel Reese Posts First Career Triple-Double In Sky's Victory Over The Sun
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese achieved another milestone by recording her first triple-double in a 78-66 win over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday (June 15), the team’s first victory in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup tournament. It was also the first triple-double for a Chicago Sky player since 2023. At 23 years old, Reese is the second-youngest player in the history of the WNBA to post a triple-double. The Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, at 22, was the youngest.
Showing off her all-around game, the 2025 BET “Sportswoman of the Year” award winner scored 11 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists for the Sky (3-7). After the game, Resse expressed her excitement for the win and added another accolade to her growing list of accomplishments in the “W.”
“(I’m) trying to get back to being super versatile,” Reese said. “And (coach Tyler Marsh) made that emphasis early on in the season. And I didn’t understand it, and I really was kinda confused and trying to figure it out. I’m still figuring it out. But I have patience."
“I’m just super excited, and then to add it with a win just feels really good.”
This season, she is averaging 10.3 points and a league-leading 11.8 rebounds.
Resse is making good on Sky’s strategy to feature her as a playmaker this season, as she’s playing more on the perimeter.
“The best attribute of our bigs is their ability to pass, and the willingness to pass,” Marsh said.
Also for the Sky, rookie Hailey Van Lith scored a career-high 16 points off the bench.
Next up, the Sky take on the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, June 17.
