Drake Cuts Surprise Show Short At Camp Flog Gnaw After Fans Boo Him Off Stage

Fans were expecting Frank Ocean instead.

It’s safe to say that Drake’s Sunday night (Nov. 10) took an unexpected turn that he nor his fans could have anticipated.

  • The OVO honcho made a surprise appearance at Tyler the Creator’s annual Camp Flog Gnaw in Los Angeles as a guest performer. Sunday’s headliner had been shrouded in mystery prior to the fest, which led to heavy speculation among fans that it would be Frank Ocean.

  • The timing also seemed to line up given Ocean’s string of recent music releases over the past few weeks. But when Drake took the stage instead, following A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert, he was met with a brutally raucous crowd who made sure he knew they were not pleased with the pop-up. In footage circulating on social media, Drizzy can be seen paused mid-performance as he tried to get the crowd hype.

  • “Like I said, I’m here for you tonight. If you want to keep going, I will keep going. What’s up?” he addressed the crowd, who rained down a chorus of boos and “nos” in response.

  • Watching the fans’ lackluster reactions, Drake made the decision to call it a night. “It’s been love. I go by the name of Drake, thank you for having me,” he signed off as he pulled out his ear monitor and walked off the stage a reported 20 minutes earlier than planned. Some fans could be heard chanting, “We want Frank!” as the Scorpion rapper exited the stage.

  • While the internet was swift in condemning the crowd’s behavior, an explanation has surfaced explaining what caused such a strong reaction.

  • Some feel the fans were unjustifiably entitled while others are trying to wrap their head around the fact that the world’s biggest rapper got booed off stage over a free performance. Suffice it to say, Sunday's headlining set was a let down in more ways than one.
