As a young girl, you are sold the expectation that one day you will meet your "Prince Charming." But what now-33-year-old Ariana Austin didn't know was that she was going to marry actual royalty — his Imperial Highness Prince Joel Dawit Makonnen Haile Selassie to be exact! 

And for anyone who thinks you can't find love in the club, get this: she met the Ethiopian prince on the dance floor of Washington, D.C. nightclub Pearl back in 2005. Prince Joel told The New York Times how he approached Ariana, who was with her friend that fateful night: "I said, 'You guys look like an ad for Bombay Sapphire.'” 

“Not even five minutes later, I said, 'You're going to be my girlfriend.'” But it wasn't until later on, when their relationship became more serious, that he revealed his royal identity. 

12 years later, on Sept. 9, 2017, the lovebirds said their "I dos" at a church in Temple Hills, Maryland. Instantly, their love went viral!

There are not many women in the world who are crowned a princess at their wedding. It's like a real Coming To America moment. The 35-year-old prince is the great-grandson of the last emperor of Ethiopia, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I.

Planned by Yodit Gebreyes Endale, the wedding festivities, which lasted for five days, included the ceremony where they were crowned and a formal reception 45 minutes away from the church at Foxchase Manor in Manassas, Virginia, where they partied with over 300 guests!
