'The Blind Side' Actor Quinton Aaron Hospitalized After Medical Emergency

The actor, whose breakout role in the 2009 Oscar-winning film launched his career, is recovering in an Atlanta hospital.

Actor Quinton Aaron, whose career took off with his portrayal of Michael Oher in the 2009 hit "The Blind Side," is recovering in an Atlanta hospital following a sudden medical emergency.

Aaron, now 41, became a household name after starring opposite Sandra Bullock in the football drama that earned Bullock an Oscar and secured a Best Picture nomination. In the years since, he has continued working in film, appearing in projects like "Mothers and Daughters" and "Halfway," while also speaking publicly about major changes to his health and lifestyle, including a dramatic weight loss.

Last week, Aaron reportedly collapsed at his apartment after his legs gave out while he was walking up a flight of stairs. He was taken to the hospital, where a GoFundMe page later described his condition as critical due to a severe blood infection. His management has since pushed back on some of that language, confirming that while the incident was serious, Aaron is currently stable and alert.

In a brief statement, Aaron’s manager Katrina Fristoe said he is receiving strong medical care and is surrounded by family. She also asked for discretion as he continues to recover, noting the family’s appreciation for the concern and well wishes from fans.

The fundraising campaign, created to help offset mounting medical and living expenses during his recovery, had raised just over $1,300 toward its $10,000 goal at the time of publication. Additional updates are expected once Aaron’s condition improves.
