Five Times Kandi Burruss Gave Us Full Taurus Energy

The entrepreneur and television star turns 47 on May 17.

Tauruses are known to be loyal, reliable, stubborn and never one to get bulldozed, which is a perfect way to describe singer, songwriter and overall business diva Kandi Burruss. From the music industry to reality television to business endeavors, Kandi, who turns 47 today, has always managed to turn "shade trees into money trees,” all while being extremely entertaining.

In honor of Kandi Burruss’ birthday and Taurus season, here are five moments that the Grammy winner gave us full Taurus energy.

  • A Loyal BFF

One of Taurus’ best quality is their loyalty. When a Taurus has your back, they are ride or die, which could be why we all love Kandi’s friendship with Xscape group member Tameka "Tiny" Cottle. There is no better celebrity friendship than this Cancer and Taurus pairing – two compatible signs. They have penned hit songs together, starred on reality television and continue to cultivate an unbreakable BFF bond. Just last year, they released a new song together, “If U Get Caught,” which has over a million views on YouTube. Watch above.

  • Loves Hard

Tauruses love hard and Kandi stands by her Leo man, Todd Tucker. The two tied the knot in 2014 and are one of the few reality television couples who have survived and thrived. They have opened businesses and rocked spin-off reality shows. In an interview with Shannon Sharpe last month, Burruss said she was attracted to Todd because he wasn’t intimidated by her, “He went 100, I actually liked it!”

Although he was working on Real Housewives of Atlanta when they met, he eventually left the show after six months of dating to boo up with Kandi. She also said she knows when to pick her battles, “He’s a Leo, he likes to have his way all the time, but I guess because I’ve been in a group I know how to pick and choose my battles.” Kandi chose right. The rest is reality show, turned power couple history.

  • Kandi Defends Her Vocals And Throws Some Serious Shade

SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B had some shade that went down online. After group member Latocha Scott tried to shade Kandi Burruss’ vocals, Miss Kandi clapped back. “You are trying to clown a person’s voice whose voice is leading on half the hits that is your claim to fame,” the "No Scrubs" songwriter said. “The biggest hit that you’ve ever been on, which is ‘Just Kickin’ It,’ is the voice that you’ve been clowning.”  She continued, “Me and you are in a group together. We supposed to make money together, we supposed to hit the stage together…but you on your video trying to make jokes about my voice, the same voice [that’s] accomplished more than you with your amazing voice that you try to put out there that you have!”

In full Taurus mode, she added, “On top of that, yeah, people been clowning me, but lately they been clowning you, too, for singing them same, tired runs you been singing since 1993.”

  • Kandi Vs. NeNe

According to astrology, Taurus and Sagittarius don’t mesh too well, which could explain the years of tension between Kandi Burruss and Nene Leakes. In one of their many arguments, but arguably the most famous, Nene was confronted regarding a blog post she wrote about Kandi’s mother. Kandi grilled Nene for crossing the line, but Miss Leakes was not backing down. In a now legendary line, Nene roared, “I said, what I said!” But what many forget was Kandi’s comeback, “Okay, well what you said was some bulls**t!”

  • All Love For Her Mama

While Kandi might let you know who is the bull on reality television, when it comes to her mama – also known as Mama Joyce – it’s nothing but love and respect. In a famous viral clip, when trolls were criticizing how much she financially supports her mom, Kandi snapped back on a 2013 episode of Watch What Happens Live. As her voice cracked, Kandi said, “That’s my mama and y’all can tweet, you can do whatever. You can tweet until you get blue in the face, I don’t care. She can have whatever she want – ‘cause that’s my mama.”

Gotta love a Taurus! Happy birthday, Kandi Burruss!
