As Lil Boosie's murder trial draws near, a judge has ruled that the Baton Rouge rapper's lyrics can be used against him by the prosecution.
In a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, Judge Mike Erwin decreed that three specific Boosie lyrics can be used to show "personal intent" in the first-degree murder of Terry Boyd, whom he is accused of having executed in a paid hit.
The words the prosecution is interested in are "187," "murk" and "cake."
As a part of his ruling, Judge Erwin said prosecutors can play one of Boosie's songs during the trial, but only the relevant portion. A hip hop expert must also be present to render interpretation of the lyrics.
Boosie's trial begins in earnest Monday, April 30. The defense had moved to close the trial to the public, but that request was denied.
