Suge Knight Sets the Record Straight on Tupac’s Death Row Chain

Knight explains the chain Drake purchased wasn’t the one Pac wore and urges him to connect with those who truly represent Tupac.

Suge Knight has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Drake allegedly buying Tupac’s Death Row chain—and he’s calling it cap. During a phone interview with “Art of Dialogue,” Knight insisted the chain Drake purchased isn’t authentic. He emphasized that he was the only person distributing chains on behalf of Death Row, noting that Snoop Dogg was among the first to receive one.

“I gave one to Snoop at first, and Snoop felt that the Death Row chain would cause too much controversy. He said he ain't trying to be squabbling up, so I made him a dog paw chain,” Knight explained.

The former Death Row CEO also listed the other people he personally gave chains to and clarified that the chain Tupac wore was his original piece—covered in diamonds on both the chain and bezel, with no engravings on the back—unlike the one Drake recently bought.

Knight recalled wearing the chain when picking Pac up from jail when he was released in 1995. Pac admired the logo pendant, which appears to show a man sitting in an electric chair, but refused to take it permanently.

“He like, ‘Sh*t, you my big bro. Let me wear yours, that’s more important. I don’t want a first one, I want to wear the one you got,’” Knight said, stressing that Pac wore that chain immediately after his release and that no one else had that exclusive piece.

Knight’s comments would make the chain and pendant that Drake purchased fake. He urged the rapper to go directly to those who truly represent Tupac to set the record straight.

Knight added that he doesn’t hold Drake personally responsible, saying, “I don’t go hard about it because I know it ain’t Drake’s fault. I believe Drake really admired Tupac and liked Tupac.”

But Knight emphasized that the chain Drake purchased isn’t authentic.
