Method Man Denies Assaulting Daughter’s Ex-Boyfriend At Gym

The rapper allegedly punched the man seven times at a Crunch Fitness in Staten Island.

Method Man claims not to have any involvement with an alleged assault regarding his daughter’s ex-boyfriend.

As reported by the New York Post on Thursday, January 16, the rapper, real name Clifford Smith, 53, was accused of recently punching 28-year-old Patrick Sokoya several times “with a closed fist” at a Crunch Fitness location in Staten Island. Sokoya is said to have dated Method’s daughter, Cheyenne Smith, 28, over a decade ago. According to sources, Sokoya felt dizzy after allegedly being punched but refused medical attention at the scene.

Shortly after the allegations surfaced, a rep for the Wu-Tang Clan member denied that Method was involved. “Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency,” the rep stated. The NYPD also confirmed to “Billboard” that there wasn’t an arrest report.

According to “Billboard,” Meth previously encountered legal issues, entering a guilty plea to tax evasion charges in 2010 after he owed over $106,000 after failing to file tax returns from 2004 to 2007. The total debut accrued was $32,799. Although Method immediately sent a $40,000 restitution payment, the previous year, the rapper was arrested for nonpayment of personal income taxes and state taxes.
