‘Diarra From Detroit’ Lands Season Two Renewal

Series lead Diarra Kilpatrick promised a “very wild” and “very Detroit adventure” in the second season.

After months of anticipation, BET+ mystery-drama and black comedy “Diarra From Detroit” has been renewed for a second season.

The news was announced on Monday, April 28, confirming that series lead Diarra Kilpatrick and co-stars Bryan Terrell Clark, DomiNque Perry, and Jon Chaffin would be returning. In Season 1, which debuted last March, Morris Chestnut and Phylicia Rashad appeared, while guest stars included Kash Doll, Icewear Vezzo, and Harry Lennix.

The series was the top new cable series among Black viewers for the entire year during its linear run on BET in early 2025. The show's first season followed the titular character, a divorced educator who begins exploring Detroit crime with her colleagues, friends and lovers after being unexpectedly ghosted by a Tinder date.

“We’re excited to be back and grateful for the opportunity to take viewers on another very wild, very Detroit adventure,” Kilpatrick said in a statement.

“It has been incredible watching fans and critics embrace this show in the way that they have, and we’re so excited to be back for more,” added Kenya Barris, the show’s executive producer. “Last season proved just how wildly talented Diarra Kilpatrick is, and I, for one, can’t wait for everyone to see what she and the team have in store this time around.”
