Is a Mt. Rushmore Rap Supergroup With Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, and Big Daddy Kane Finally Happening?
According to AllHipHop, a new rap supergroup is in the final stages of forming.
The outlet shared new details about the supergroup, revealing it will be called Mt. Rushmore. The group features rap veterans Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, and Big Daddy Kane.
The budget is said to be “already locked in”, and the project featuring all the artists is “getting finalized.”
Rumors fly that Slick Rick may be tapped for one track on the album. The 60-year-old recently released his fifth studio album, “Victory,” his first release 26 years after releasing “The Art Of Storytelling” which went Gold.
While the official group name, release date, and the label that will be behind the project are currently under the wraps, this project will be a moment for the culture and could potentially put each of these artists back into the spotlight alongside today’s popular artists.
These four legends hold an undeniable place in hip-hop’s DNA.
Rakim, widely considered one of the greatest lyricists ever, flipped the rap game on its head in the late ‘80s with his complex rhyme schemes and thoughtful storytelling, a style that has influenced countless MCs ever since. KRS-One, famously known as “The Teacha,” carved his own lane by putting socially conscious lyrics front and center, using his voice to tackle issues like inequality and community empowerment, and earning respect as one of the genre’s sharpest minds.
Kool G Rap made his mark with rapid-fire, multisyllabic rhymes and vivid street narratives, laying the groundwork for mafioso rap and shaping the sound of artists from Nas to Jay-Z. Big Daddy Kane is known for his lightning-fast delivery, and magnetic stage presence solidifying himself in hip-hop’s golden era and his place as a true icon in the culture.
