Mother Alleges Police ‘Failed’ After Son Found Dead Following Party Closure
The day following a party in Las Vegas, a 20-year-old male who was missing was discovered deceased in a swimming pool.
KTNV reported that Tayshaun Todd was discovered deceased in a swimming pool at a residence located in the 2600 block of Palma Vista Avenue, as per the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
According to KTNV, the investigation was initiated by the police after a homeowner reported a corpse in his pool. The outlet obtained an incident report that indicated that police had visited the residence the previous evening at approximately 8:30 p.m. to disperse a party.
Later that evening, Christina Todd-Dunn contacted the police to report that her son was missing and had last been seen at the residence.
According to Todd-Dunn, her younger son was the one to inform her that Tayshaun was missing, and Tayshaun's companion claimed that he was unable to locate her son after the party was closed by the police in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In addition to contacting the police, Todd-Dunn stated that she visited the residence and conversed with a man who informed her that he was unaware of her son's whereabouts. He then requested that she depart.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the police did eventually appear at the home at approximately 2 a.m., but they stated that they did not locate him there, as per a police report.
Police had already arrived at the residence when Tayshaun's mother returned the following day, and she was informed that a corpse had been discovered in the pool. The body was subsequently identified as her son.
She stated to the publication, “I feel like the police officers failed me. They failed my son. Y’all should have done a full search if it was a pool party and I’m saying he didn’t come up out of here. Y’all should have turned the house upside down to find him.”
The Review-Journal reported that the police are currently conducting an investigation into his death as a "possible drowning." However, the cause of death was still pending as of Monday, June 30.
