BET Awards 2025: Kevin Hart's Philly Fandom Is as Loud as His Comedy

As he gears up to host culture’s biggest night, we’re looking back at Kevin Hart’s most hilarious, passionate, and over-the-top moments as a die-hard Eagles and Sixers fan—from crashing the Super Bowl stage to courtside trash talk.

Kevin Hart is one of the biggest stars on the globe. From standup comedy specials, TV shows, and blockbuster films, Hart is a cultural icon. Along with making the world laugh with his comedy, Hart is a die-hard sports fan.

Born and raised in North Philadelphia, you can catch Hart cheering on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field and the 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center. Without question, he embodies the grit, passion, frustration, and emotions of one of the country’s best sports cities.

As the host of the highly anticipated 2025 BET Awards, it’s only right that we pay tribute to Hart’s undying love of his favorite Philly teams.

Tried To Get On Stage During the Super Bowl Presentation

After the Eagles won their first Super Bowl title in franchise history, no one was more excited than Kevin Hart. Not only was he in attendance for the historic game, but he got a chance to celebrate the victory on the field. While he later admitted that he was slightly inebriated,  during the post-game celebration, he famously tried to get onto the stage with the team for the trophy presentation but was denied access by security.  Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, he explained that he was still upset that he missed the opportunity to be a part of the celebration when he was asked if he saw the video.

“I've seen it a lot, but that's what pisses me off the most," Hart said. "The whole reason I was going up there was to get to the trophy. I had no idea the trophy went right by me (while arguing with security). I literally had no idea. All I had to do was turn around, and it was right there."

After this hilarious encounter, he forever solidified his status as the ultimate Eagles fan.

His Tequila Company Paid For Free SEPTA Rides for the Eagles Super Bowl Parade In Philadelphia

Following the Eagles' second Super Bowl win in 2025, the city announced free SEPTA (Philadelphia’s public transportation system) rides for anyone who wanted to take the train to witness the parade on Broad Street, compliments of Gran Coramino, Hart’s tequila brand. The company also partnered with the team this season to become the official luxury tequila of the Philadelphia Eagles.

He's Always Seated In The Front Row At Sixer Games

While he loves the Eagles, Hart is also a big 76ers fan. His emotional reactions to the team coming up short in the playoffs are always hilarious, but his loyalty never falters. Whenever he’s in town during the season, you can catch him seated courtside, yelling at referees or celebrating big moments, showcasing his intense loyalty to his squad. It’s been more than forty years since the Sixers have won a championship, and if they win one in the future, you can be sure that Kevin Hart will be right in the front row.

Hart Rung the Liberty Bell At Sixers Games

The 76ers have a tradition of "ringing the bell" at their home games. This ritual is rooted in the city being the home of the iconic Liberty Bell, but for Sixers fans, it announces that the game is underway. The idea was conceived by then-head coach Brett Brown, who sought to add the Liberty Bell into the team's culture during the 2018 season. The team ownership purchased a 200-pound replica of the Liberty Bell, and before each game, a Philadelphia celebrity rings it to get the crowd hyped about the game. Being arguably the most famous and loyal Sixer fan, Hart has been invited to ring the Liberty Bell on several occasions.

Trash Talk With Opposing Players

While some celebrities watch the game, Kevin Hart believes he’s in the game. Don’t let his small stature fool you. Hart is a ride-or-die fan and will take on opposing players with his trash-talking.

“I talk a lot of trash. That's why I go," Hart told Jimmy Kimmel. "I go there to sit courtside to mess with the players. That's literally all I go for."

But sometimes his banter backfires. After taunting James Harden, who played for the Houston Rockets at the time,  he dropped 51 points to go with 13 rebounds and 13 assists in a 123-118 win over the Sixers. After the game, Hart crashed Harden’s post-game interview and kept trolling him.
