Megan Thee Stallion, Solange And More Continue To Demand Justice For Breonna Taylor

Taylor would’ve turned 27 this Friday.

A number of celebrities are honoring Breonna Taylor, a Louisville EMT worker who was shot and killed by police in her home, ahead of what would’ve been her 27th birthday this Friday, June 5.

  • “The police officers who murdered Breonna Taylor still haven’t been arrested or charged. Friday June 5th would have been her 27th birthday,” Megan Thee Stallion tweeted on Thursday (June 4). She shared a link to some resources for how fans can get involved with advocating for accountability on behalf of Taylor.

  • Solange returned to Twitter to put more pressure on Mayor Greg Fischer and Gov. Andy Beshear for the arrest of officers involved in Taylor’s death now that former Minneapolis officers connected to George Floyd’s police killing have been taken into custody.

“When are the arrests and charges happening?!?!” she pressed them.

  • Rob Markman and Angie Martinez among others shared a petition calling for charges to be brought against John Mattingly, Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove, the three Louisville police officers involved in Taylor’s death, and anyone who helped coverup the incident.

Demi Lovato encouraged people to write to Kentucky attorney general Daniel Cameron, writing “The most underserved demographic in America is Black women, we cannot allow them to forget Breonna.”

  • In mid-March, police officers broke down Taylor’s front door to execute a drug warrant at the wrong house. Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, who is a licensed gun owner, shot at them believing they were intruders. The officers returned fire, fatally striking the 26-year-old emergency technician. No evidence of drugs was discovered, and the “no-knock” warrant they secured to enter her home has since come under scrutiny.

None of them have been arrested nor fired in connection to Taylor’s death amid an ongoing internal investigation, according to CBS News.
