Rihanna and Black Eyed Peas Blasted by Moby

The multi-platinum artist says that the pop stars don’t make music.

It’s safe to say Moby isn’t a fan of many of today's leading pop stars, Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas, Ke$ha and Britney Spears would not make the cut. The multi platinum recording artist told Spinner.com that what all of these artists create is not music. He recognizes that they are chart toppers but he just can’t relate.
"It's fun, but I don't think of it as music," he told Spinner. "It's manufactured. I appreciate it as pop culture phenomenon and some of the songs I like if I hear them in a shopping mall or something, but it doesn't function as music for me."
According to PBS.org Moby’s records have sold more than 20 million copies. Rolling Stone voted his first solo release “Go” one of the top 200 records of all time. He is a producer and his music has been used in hundreds of different films. He released his tenth studio album “Destroyed” earlier this month.
Moby says that he isn’t really criticizing this music he just thinks, “It’s advertising for ring tones.”
"Music is something that communicates emotion and integrity in a really interesting, direct way," says Moby. "And when I listen to [that kind of] pop music, it's hyper-produced corporate product. I just think calling it music is a misnomer.”
