Ray J Arrested After Thanksgiving Livestream Turns Violent
R&B star Ray J was arrested on Thursday after an explosive Thanksgiving day livestream in which he allegedly pulled a gun on his estranged wife, Princess Love, and made threats that prompted a police response. Authorities booked the 44-year-old singer on a charge of making a criminal threat. TMZ reports that his bail is set at $50,000.
Video from the live broadcast shows a chaotic exchange between the pair as Ray J accused Love and relatives of planning to drive while intoxicated. At one point in the stream, Love, who was holding one of their children, accused Ray J of pointing a firearm at her; she also called him “a woman abuser” and said she had contacted police.
“I called the police,” Princess is later heard telling Ray J, prompting him to respond, "I’ll shoot the f---ing police.”
The footage captured Ray J grabbing what appeared to be a handgun and issuing threats, at one point warning that he wouldn’t let anyone come inside. Officials responded to a domestic disturbance call in the early hours and took Ray J into custody.
Ray J and Princess Love married in 2016 and share two children: Melody, 7, and Epik, 5. Love filed for divorce earlier this year, and reports claim this is her fourth filing. Law enforcement and representatives for both parties did not immediately comment to reporters. Ray J has reportedly been released after posting bail.
Princess Love and Ray J have a history of highly publicized tension, which has included police involvement and multiple divorce filings, according to court records. Ray J’s day in court is set for Dec. 19.
