Kai Cenat Reveals Netflix and Amazon Wanted In on ‘Streamer University’
Kai Cenat isn’t letting the allure of big-name platforms pull him away from building his empire on his own terms.
During a recent Twitch stream filmed from his office during the middle of his viral Streamer University bootcamp, the 23-year-old internet star claimed that he had been in talks with several major platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Tubi, all of which expressed interest in getting involved with the event. But Cenat says he’s not selling just yet.
“One thing I learned with this s—t, bro… A lot of people been talking about how this shit should be on Netflix,” he told his viewers. “Or Amazon Prime should buy this, Tubi should buy it… We already been getting talks with different people.”
While he didn’t confirm whether formal offers were made, Kai made it clear that he’s intentionally keeping control in-house.
“With an idea like this so original, you gotta keep it where it’s at,” he explained. “Y’all channels, and who you are as a person… This y’all idea, this is your guy’s stuff. Treat your platform as you would treat other platforms.”
Kai also noted that subscription-based platforms like Twitch already offer creators the space to shine without giving up ownership.
He continued. “Twitch, I think of it all like this: If you gonna sub up, you gonna get some good shit,” he said. “Y’all have the opportunity to make y’all platforms as big as other platforms.”
Streamer University, hosted at a real college campus in Akron, Ohio, marked one of Kai’s most ambitious livestreams to date.
The three-day experience offered up-and-coming digital creators a crash course in content creation, led by some of the biggest names in streaming, including DDG, Duke Dennis, and cookingwithkya.
