Swae Lee Jokes He’s ‘the Next Michael Jackson’
Meek Mill thinks Swae Lee doesn’t get enough credit.
Following Lee’s recent Coachella performance, Meek took to social media to give the rapper his flowers, writing, “Swae Lee don’t get enough credit!!!!” Lee responded with a bold declaration of his own, saying, “My dots are connecting for me to be the next Michael Jackson twin,” followed by two fist-up emojis. He added, “Meek the realest.”
The comment landed after a weekend that had already kept Lee in the headlines. During the first night of Coachella, his set was cut off just as he was preparing to perform “Black Beatles,” apparently because his time had run over. Lee later addressed the moment on social media and apologized to fans, promising he would make it up to them. “We rocking out next week ! I’m sorry yall,” he wrote.
The performance still had plenty of bright spots. While singing “Sunflower,” Lee brought out his son, who was dressed as Spider-Man, giving the set a personal and playful moment that fans immediately clocked.
Lee has also been making headlines offstage. On “The Way Up with Angela Yee” podcast, he responded to criticism over past comments about former Vice President Kamala Harris and admitted that he did not vote in the last U.S. presidential election. He also made clear that he does not support Donald Trump’s MAGA movement, saying, “I turned down money from MAGA.” Lee claimed the movement had tried to recruit him to campaign and perform, but he declined.
Between a headline-making festival set, a viral response to Meek Mill, and a candid interview, Lee is reminding everybody that he knows exactly how to keep the conversation on him, which is a very Michael Jackson thing to do. And whether fans take the Michael Jackson talk seriously or not, it is clear that Swae Lee is feeling himself.
