T.I. took to the stage Saturday night (April 9) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, not to rap but to try his hand at comedy. Video clips circulated on social media appeared to show him having trouble connecting with his audience. Instead of laughter, awkward silence and some boos are heard in the background.
According to XXL, T.I’s set included jokes about determining whether or not a date is for the streets and about having sex with someone's mother.
Here are some other reactions.
Others applauded the rapper’s effort to master a new skill. One Twitter user praised his courage for “taking a massive risk.”
The event was part of the April Fools Comedy Jam that featured comedians Rip Micheals, Nick Cannon, HaHa Davis, Eddie Griffin, B. Simone, Tony Roberts, Bruce Bruce, Michael Blackson, Joe Torry, and Jacob Williams, plus performances by Lil’ Kim, T.I., and Moneybagg Yo and music by DJ Envy.
