Beyoncé Drops Out of Clint Eastwood's A Star Is Born

The singer pulls out of the highly anticipated remake.

Clint Eastwood's remake of the film A Star Is Born has been in pre-production for over a year, with its casting up in the air. Previously confirmed, Beyoncé was set to star in the same role Barbra Streisand played in the 1976 version, as a young performer who falls in love with an older fading star. However, Bey has decided to exit the film without public explanation. Warner Brothers has yet to release a statement.

Sources say the pop queen's schedule is already packed for this year, and taking on such a major role would be too much. With a new album in tow, her 10-month-old daughter, numerous performances and potentially another tour, the celebrity has more than enough to do. However, there are rumors that another reason is Bey's support of President Barack Obama, which is in direct conflict with Eastwood's very public endorsement of Mitt Romney at the 2012 Republican National Convention.
In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, the singer says:  "I was looking forward to the production of A Star Is Born and the opportunity to work with [director] Clint Eastwood.  For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life, but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together. "
In the past, Beyoncé has starred in star-studded films such as Cadillac Records and Dreamgirls. While music and motherhood might be her highest priorities right now, she's still set to play Queen Tara in the 3D CGI animated film Epic to be released by 20th Century Fox. The multi-talented singer and actress has no plans of leaving the big screen behind. Her fans will simply have to wait a little longer for her next performance.
