Jill Scott Had The Best Response After NFL Player Questioned Her Sex Symbol Status

The former Dallas Cowboys has since apologized and said his comments were “poorly” worded.

NFL linebacker Kyle Queiro learned his lesson the hard way after he came under fire for questioning why people were “sexually attracted” to Jill Scott.

  • The former Dallas Cowboys player posted a series of since-deleted tweets questioning if people really found the R&B singer attractive, tweeting “People are attracted to Jill Scott!? By no means is she ugly. But y’all really sexually attracted by her huh?”

  • Immediately, people swarmed his comments and mentions as they came to Scott’s defense. Even K. Michelle, Tory Lanez, and Questlove chimed in.

After the ensuing backlash, Queiro later clarified that his comments were “poorly” worded, writing, “I didn’t grow up on Jill Scott so it was news to me that she was a sex symbol, and I just tweeted. Stupidly. It was best to just delete it and my L.”

  • He then posted a  second with a lengthy apology to Scott for his commentary on Saturday (July 11).

“The topic of your beauty should not have been shared over social media for public discourse. There’s truly no excuses or explanations to be made. My comments were distasteful and unbecoming of a Black man to speak negatively of Black women under any circumstances,” he wrote. He also issued an apology to Black women as a whole for “the layers of hurt [he] peeled back with [his] words.”

“I had no intention to make people feel less than, but that’s simply not good enough. Intention doesn’t equate to impact. I am aware of how much more important one’s impact is than their intention. Knowing this, I still offended a large number and for that I’m deeply sorry.”

  • However, Jill Scott had the best response to the whole controversy.

“Wait...I’m trending again???” she tweeted once she noticed her name going viral across the social platform. She used the moment to put a spotlight back on Breonna Taylor and Oluwatoyin Salau’s unresolved cases in addition to Sandra Bland.

“Ok then JUSTICE for Breonna Taylor!!! Justice for Oluwatoyin Salau!!! Justice for Sandra Bland!!!” she issued. “Loving yourselves and each other is respectful and uplifting and supportive. EYES ON THE PRIZE, LOVE VILLAGE. EYES ON THE PRIZE.”

She also thanked everyone for sending their love and support her way after Queiro’s comments, writing “Also...your compliments were very sweet. Thanx everybody.”
