Aaliyah’s YouTube channel will be a thing in 2021.
The late singer’s estate gained full control of the video channel, which makes the possibility of what’s posted endless. A post from the late singer’s official Instagram account confirmed the news.
"Thank you for all of your love and support," a caption below an image of the announcement reads. "We are proud to announce that the Estate is now in control of the ‘Aaliyah’ YouTube account. 2021 will the year of Aaliyah! See you all in the new year!"
The news comes months after Aaliyah’s estate announced her music would finally be available on streaming services as well. An August statement revealed that "communication has commenced between the estate and various record labels about the status of Aaliyah’s music catalogue” has been initiated.
A book about Aaliyah is also in the works for next year. Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah by Kathy Iandoli, an entertainment journalist, is slated to hit shelves on August 17 and details the incredible life of the artist whose tragic death came at the age of 22. It features in-depth research and exclusive interviews with people who were close to Aaliyah and her family.
