Watch: Family Abandons Their Dog at Shelter While It Sadly Watches Them Pick a New Pet

People on Facebook have unleashed their rage on them.
  • Meet 2-year-old German Shepherd Zuzu

  • Zuzu was taken to the Downey Animal Care Center in California after her biological father died and she jumped into the neighbors' yard, stricken with grief

Desi, a worker at the animal center, wrote on Facebook that Zuzu’s former owners informed the facility that she had become depressed and was “crying” after her father passed away, reported Buzzfeed.

On day, Zuzu jumped her fence and wound up in the neighbors’ yard. When she was met with the unforgiving neighbors, they called animal control.

Downey Animal Care Center then assumed Zuzu was a stray dog brought in from the street.

  • One day, the shelter employees noticed that Zuzu became extremely excited when she noticed her owners walking in

  • However, Zuzu, as well as the staff, was disappointed to find out that the owners were there to rescue a new dog

“Their reason was because she was crying and sad since her father passed away. She wasn’t a happy dog anymore,” Desi wrote on Facebook. “Their solution for her unhappiness was just leaving her here. And go get another dog.”

  • When Desi shared Zuzu's story on Facebook, people immediately vented their frustration with her owners

  • However, thanks to all the attention Zuzu received, Desi is proud to announce that she will be taken in by a wonderful rescue organization

  • Desi is sure the rescue facility will help find Zuzu a wonderful home in no time
