Lifestyle Influencer Ashlee Jenae's Cause of Death Has Been Revealed
Authorities have completed their investigation of the influencer and content creator Ashlee Jenae’s death.
The lifestyle influencer, whose legal name is Ashly Robinson, was confirmed to have died by suicide in April while vacationing in Zanzibar, according to local outlet The Citizen.
The 31-year-old’s death had drawn widespread attention because it came just days after her engagement to Joe McCann, shared online. Questions around the couple immediately sparked online discussions as family pressed authorities for details about what happened inside the resort where the couple stayed. Her death was unofficially ruled a suicide early by her fiancé, though friends and loved ones publicly rejected that explanation.
According to local reporting, the Zanzibar Police Force said the case was reviewed by the Criminal Investigation Department and concluded that Jenae died by suicide as a result of mental distress.
“Through Witness statements and analysis of communication devices belonging to the deceased and her fiancé, we established that she had been experiencing mental distress. SMS exchanges showed repeated complaints regarding her life circumstances," said Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations, Zuberi Chembera, speaking from Zanzibar.
Reuters reported in April that police were questioning her fiancé and waiting for medical and forensic results as the investigation unfolded. ABC News also reported at the time that her family was seeking answers and that police said the case remained under review.
"My daughter Ashly, she's no longer here with us, and we're trying to find out why," said Yolanda Denise Endres, her mother.
"Uncertainty. Mystery. Anger. Sadness. It's like a part of me has been taken," said her father, Harry Robinson.
Jenae’s death, which was first reported mid-April, prompted an outpouring of grief from followers who knew her for her lifestyle content and personal updates online. The latest news appears to close the official investigation, though it is likely to remain a painful story for family members and fans still processing the loss.
