The Best Of The Best! Dionne Warwick, Tribe Called Quest, Eminem And Lionel Richie All Nominated To The 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

They are part of a group of 17 artists who made a huge impact in the music industry.

Dionne Warwick, Tribe Called Quest and Lionel Richie are among the 17 musical acts who have been nominated as the 2022 class of inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Other nominees include Eminem, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, Eurythmics, Kate Bush, Devo, Judas Priest, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Beck, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar, and the legendary afrobeat artist Fela Kuti, who passed away in 1997. Warwick, who released her first album in 1963, and Kuti were nominated last year but ultimately didn't make the cut.

“This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture”, said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in a statement released on Wednesday (Feb. 2). “Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed.”

Lionel Richie, Tribe Called Quest and Eminem are first-time nominees but Eminem is the only first-time eligible nominee. Infinite, the rapper’s debut album, was released in 1996. However, Eminem received his fame from his acclaimed 1999 album, The Slim Shady LP.

Besides votes gather by members of the music industry, fans can also be a part of the action. Head to the Rock & Roll Museum in Cleveland in person or visit vote.rockhall.com to vote for your favorite musician until April 29, 2022. The criteria includes an artist’s influence on other artists, the tenure and depth of their career as well as an examination of their full body of work including different techniques of music making.

The top five artists chosen will result in the “fans ballot” which will be counted along with the other ballots to select the new crop of inductees.

The class of 2022 will be announced in May.
